  our father rudolph,a 90 year old war veteran passed away may 1 2016 and since then we have been treated with total disrespect by chinook financial, a division of first connect credit union.My brother had a joint account with our father to prevent any estate problems when our father passed. For the last eight years my brother paid my fathers insurance bills, utility bill, and credit card bills etc out of this joint account. Upon our dads passing chinook financial locked up the joint account and said nothing is coming out of that account. Patsy and Gloria from drumheller chinook financial stated that it chinooks standard operating practise to lock up any joint accounts that have in excess of 20,000 dollars. The only exception is for married couples. We cannot have a service for my father because it is his last wish that the joint account pay for funeral services. Chinook even bounced our parents final utility bills even though there was many thousands of dollars in the account. Section 116 (1) (2) (3) of the alberta credit union act states that chinook financial cannot lock up the account, but that didnt stop them , they locked up the account anyway. They kept saying how sympathetic they were but they caused us all our problems.

  NOTE; after 6 weeks of fighting with chinook financial we finally had the balance of the joint account transfered to the CIBC. CIBC,s management were very efficient and professional and in 5 minutes had corrected all of chinook financials errors
